Waiheke Island Tree Planting
A fun day in the outdoors helping plant trees on the picturesque Waiheke Island, Learn about the conservation efforts happening on the island followed by a shared lunch.
The plan is to meet at AUT WF building at 9:00am then walk down to the Explore Ferry to catch the 9:30 ferry to Waiheke. (cost of the ferry is covered as we are volunteering ) Michael, our guide From ' Waiheke Resource Trust', will meet us on the ferry and give us a quick talk on some of the conservation efforts they are working on. Upon arrival, they will assign us areas to help with planting trees.
Followed by a well earned shared lunch
( Fair Trade, Organic if possible and remember to not bring any packaging or rubbish that will be left on the Island ).

Blog to Read: Trash is for Tossers (Zero Waste)
http://www.trashisfortossers.com/
Trash is for Tossers is Lauren Singer's blog.
It documents her Zero Waste journey to show that leading a Zero Waste lifestyle is simple, cost-effective, timely, fun, & entirely possible for everyone and anyone.
For the purpose of this blog, Waste is defined as point source, meaning it is discarded by its holder with intent of it going to landfill. Trash is anything a person plans to throw away or anything a person deems obsolete that is then discarded in a manner where it will not be intended for re-purposing or reuse even if it unknowingly will be at some point in the future.
How does she define ZERO WASTE?
Zero Waste means that she does not produce any garbage. No sending anything to landfill, no throwing anything in a trash can, nothing. She only recycles and compost.
